The Best Time of Year to Paint a House in Florida
In Florida, when you paint the outside of your house matters almost as much as who does it. The weather here can make good paint fail early.
01 Why it matters
Paint needs dry air and time to cure. Roll it on in the wrong stretch of the year and an afternoon downpour can hit a wall that is not ready, or high humidity can trap moisture under the film. Then you get poor adhesion, streaks, and a coat that peels years too soon. All that money, undone by bad timing.
02 The reasoning
The reasoning behind it.
Florida runs on two seasons, wet and dry, and paint cares about the difference. The dry season, roughly October through April, brings lower humidity, cooler surface temperatures, and far fewer storms. That is when exterior paint goes on clean and cures the way it should.
The wet season, roughly June through November, is the hard one. Daily afternoon thunderstorms and heavy humidity give paint little chance to dry between coats, and a surprise storm can ruin a fresh wall. That is why we push most exterior work to the drier months.
Interior painting is a different story. Inside, we control the conditions with air movement and dry air, so interior work runs all year, wet season or dry.
03 How to decide
How to get it right.
- 01
Aim for the dry season outside
October through April is the strong window for exterior painting in Sarasota and Manatee. Lower humidity and fewer storms mean the paint dries evenly and cures fully, so it bonds tight and lasts. This is the stretch we book the heaviest exterior work.
- 02
Treat interior work as year-round
You never have to wait on the forecast to paint inside. We manage the air and moisture in the room, so the wet-season summer months are a perfect time to knock out interior rooms while exterior conditions are rough.
- 03
Prep the exterior before hurricane season
Sound, well-sealed paint is part of protecting your home. Getting exterior painting and caulking done before the June-to-November storm season means bare wood and open gaps are sealed up before the heavy weather arrives, not after.
- 04
Book ahead for the busy window
The dry season is when every Florida homeowner wants exterior work, so the good weeks fill up fast. Call early, lock your spot, and you get the calm-weather window instead of squeezing the job into a stretch of storms.

05 What they say
What Sarasota and Manatee homeowners say about our work.
Absolutely wonderful experience working with Zsolt! He was a recommendation from a friend for exterior house painting. I had already met 4 other painters and gotten their bids, so I expected that he would be similar, but he was by far the most professional, most responsive and most reasonable price. He included power washing the entire property which turned out to be a much larger project than expected, but not once did he pass that burden on to me. The finished job exceeded my expectations and I quickly hired him for another project. In total Zsolt power washed and painted the exterior of our rental house, washed and painted our pool deck with non-slip paint and stained a newly build wooden outdoor lounge area. I would recommend him to anyone in need of painting or staining or power washing.
Silver Painting did a wonderful job! I needed two bedrooms, and a bathroom painted. Zsolt came in and asked all the questions necessary to ensure the project went exactly as planned. From the color charts to recommendations on paint types and finishes. The painters were professional, courteous, and respectful of our home. The job was completed on time, on budget, with care, and attention to detail. They are true professionals. I highly recommend Silver Painting for all your painting and cleaning needs!
Our windows, doors and glass were dusty from Hurricane Milton. As we have done in the past, we hired Silver Painting and Cleaning to clean our windows and sashes, inside and out. The owner, Zolt, came and gave us an estimate on a Saturday.
06 Questions
Questions homeowners ask.
What months are best for exterior painting in Florida?
Roughly October through April, the dry season. Humidity is lower, storms are rare, and surface temperatures are friendlier, so the paint dries and cures the way it needs to. That combination is what makes the coat last.
Can you paint the outside during summer?
Sometimes, but it takes care. Summer brings daily afternoon storms and heavy humidity, so we watch the forecast closely and work the dry mornings. For most exterior jobs we would rather schedule the drier months so the paint is not fighting the weather.
Is interior painting affected by the season?
No. Inside your home we control the humidity and airflow, so interior painting runs all year. Summer is actually a smart time to do interior rooms while exterior conditions are wet and stormy.
Should I paint before hurricane season?
It is a good idea. Fresh paint and fresh caulk seal bare wood and open gaps before the June-to-November storm season, so your home is buttoned up ahead of the heavy weather. Booking in spring gets it done in time.
